Herd is a different story. Instead of hot plates, there are spirals on which the pot stands. These spirals are heated and glow on the upper levels (see photo right), even if a pot is on it. Not necessarily the best design I've always felt that the pans are not on the plan spirals.
The stove itself is way huge. The oven has the typical for the U.S. to its size, so that on Thanksgiving (Thanksgiving) fits inside the turkey for the whole family.
