Most American homes have no basement so. Therefore it is often the Garage used for storage of things that we always or even no longer required.
But the biggest garage is full at some point, even if you park the car always on the road. Or you could move to (there are statistics that say that the average American moves every few years), you want to pack up all the junk still not sure and bring extra.
Instead, they organized here a "Yard Sale" or "Garage Sale". In principle, this is a private flea market with only a seller: the homeowner on whose property (usually the driveway or front yard) such sales take place. There, everyone can get there and buy food for little money you just so exhausted.
This garage sales are signs that you put on the next major intersection advertised (although there are also certain web pages for it). As you read then a few days earlier: "Garage Sale this Saturday from 9-17 Clock". Is it therefore just moved, it is worth well over the weekend times to drive something through the neighborhood (mind you go and not run if anyone here runs through a residential area and operates obviously neither Nordic Walking or jogging, is eyed with suspicion), somewhere is definitely a Garage Sale and you can buy cheap things that you are missing even more.
