In Germany as the epitome of the natural forest. But the forest is the natural landscape of Central Europe? Probably not. Long before humans cleared, did animals. Much like today in the African savannas, destroying trees, thus ensuring an open and diverse landscapes. Now reverse the four-legged landscape nurses back with human assistance: Just half an hour from Amsterdam is Oostvaardersplassen, a vast reclaimed from the sea level. Dutch conservationists settled there about 3000 large ungulates - elk, wild horses and wild cattle - on.
The film by Gerd Weiss and Michael Miersch shows the beauty of this wilderness of second-hand and documented the lives of großenHuftiere and the many smaller inhabitants of Oostvaardersplassen. In addition, the authors present their film an explosive political issue: Should billions of euros are spent every year to farmers to the cultural landscape? Or does Oostvaardersplassen the example that there is another way?
